Before the coffee gets cold

Toshikazu Kawaguchi

4 nov 2023

In this novel the author explores time travel but from an interpersonal humanistic perspective. What would happen if you could time travel to talk to someone but only the time it takes a cup of coffee to get cold; knowing you can't change the present no matter what you say? Would your future change?

  • We don't really understand people's motivation for doing things. Openly talking about the important things is the only way to truly know what they think.

  • It is too easy to get stuck in the past and become a living ghost. You have to let go off the past to create a future.

  • You never know when will the last time you see a person. It is easy to get lost in the everyday unimportant business. Make sure you treasure the time with your loved ones.

  • Having the right conversation can be trascendental. You can resignify the past, and specifically your understanding of the past. Changing your relationship with yourself and with the future.

This book is a beautiful collection of different stories answering the same question mentioned before. It is well written, personal, vulnerable, deep and will definitely give you things to reflect on. I would absolutely recommend this book if you like good stories.
