We have all heard that sugar is not good for us, but in this book the author goes deep into the reasons. She explains the science behind glucose and how we process it. As well as the consequences and tips for when we want to consume sugar.
Our body is constantly sending us messages, but how can we listen to our body?
What we eat matters, but also the order in which we eat it.
Only 12% of Americans are metabolically healthy.
The underlying problem is the velocity with which glucose is absorbed. We can't process it too fast.
Eating fiber before meals reduces the insulin pick and therefore the consequences of sugar consumption. Exercising after eating, and drinking Apple vinegar dissolved in water also helps.
In general if you are interested in nutrition and overall health it is a must read. The author takes complex topics and makes them accessible to the reader. It is well written, backed by science, and interesting.
