Milan Kundera

In this recollection of stories the author explores diverse themes surrounding love. It talks about sex, death, aging, memory, self perseption and outer perception. It is an invitation to questions our paradigms surrounding love.
How does our behavior create our identity, and to what extent can we change (or impact) others behaviors through our change?
To what extent are we responsible for other's people's emotions, specifically when they love us?
What is the role of imagination in erotic love? To what extent is erotic love constructed in the mind. To what extent memory plays a role?
Can the act of rejection become an act of love when self hate is present?
To what extent are we willing to sacrifice our individuality, and our beliefs for love. To what extent is it superficial?
Kundera gives us a different perspective on human and complex topics.
Through satire and humor it takes our ideals to the extremes such that it shows the limits and logical contradictions. In general I would absolutely recommend this book, and this author.
