Milan Kundera

This book, and this author has shaped the way in which I see love and it's relationship to sex. It is philosophical at its root, but it is wrapped in a complex romantic novel. What does it mean to love? To be free? What about God and the denial of death?
When the heart speaks, the mind finds it indecent to object.
Anyone whose goal is "something higher" must expect someday to suffer vertigo.
Making love with a woman and sleeping with a woman are two separate passions, not merely different but opposite.
There is no perfection, only life.
That is why life is like a sketch. The sketch that is our life is a sketch for nothing, an outline with no picture.
I had already read this masterpiece time ago, but neither me nor the story are the same. It is not a light reading, but it has hidden gems all over waiting for you to discover them. It is worth the effort of reading it. I would absolutely recommend Kundera and specifically this book.
